Relaxing at the lake….😊

Took the morning to enjoy a yummy pastry from Fresh Baked Cafe.

Decided on the cookie butter which is just delish, so happy it’s not a buffet!

I put the extras into my car-(yes I did)- took a short stroll to the water.

As I sat there I realized that the blazing sun was feeling ever so much hotter!

Luckily there is a small breeze to caress my now very warm self.

Opened up my phone to begin reading my new book on the kindle app alone by myself.

At least I thought I was then realized that I was not alone at this time!

I had a very persistant feathery friend asking to join me- so sublime!

Now it is time for me to set this aside.

As I soak in the rays and feel the breeze and try to read with my feathery friend beside!

Decided to continue my stroll to the beach.

Outside of the feathery bird’s reach.

Sliding my feet into the waters’ edge.

Despite the cold I let the water soak away all my stress that I carried on my ledge!

Battleground

I stumble upon the remnants of a wintry battle between a fierce northeast gale and steadfast lighthouse.

One January morning a couple of winters ago, I paid a visit to Owls Head Lighthouse, in the aftermath of a northeast gale, to help shovel snow off the light station property. The landscape was beautiful, as it normally is after an event such as this, however it wasn’t the beautiful snow covered hill that garnered my attention. Instead, what instantly captivated me was the lantern room of the lighthouse, which was covered in a wintery glaze of ice and snow from the freezing winds that had buffeted the tower.

In storms such as this one, snow and ice can oftentimes gather on the lantern panes of lighthouses. Sometimes the snow and ice is so thick you cannot see the light shining through the glass, and other times you might see the light’s heat melt the snow and blaze through the wintery elements as they attempt to stick to the lantern panes. In the days when lighthouses were manned, it was the lighthouse keeper’s responsibility to ensure the lantern panes were kept clear during storms, but nowadays the heat from the glass prisms is the only thing that helps to melt the frozen elements. On this occasion, the lens had done a fantastic job of battling the weather, for it melted a hole right through the middle of the icy lantern panes.

It was a fascinating scene that I made sure to photograph, but it also prompted me to write a poem, which I will share with you below. Thanks for reading!

Battleground

A battleground emerges upon this hill,
For across the sea out of the northeast,
The cold wind blows shrill,
As a beacon shines through the din,
Here a winter war does begin,

The fields of battle are neither rock nor soil,
But rather a hexadecagon of glass,
Winter’s invasion brings snow and ice to toil,
The lighthouse readies a guiding flame,
Victory they shall both try to claim,

Upon the glass these two elements fight,
One of fire, one of ice,
Under the cover of the darkest night,
Only the dawn can reveal,
Whom is the victor, and whom must kneel,

The inevitable morning has come,
And as the storm pushes to points north,
Sunlight reigns to show what has become,
A final score to be tallied,
In light of winter’s grand finale,

Though ice abound,
Light has pierced the wintery veil,
Fire is the victor, it shall be crowned,
Atop this snow covered hill,
It stands defiant in the face of the boreal chill

I found this online and felt the need to share it with you!

Adrift……🌊

I feel like a boat being drifted out to sea but they are there as an anchor, making certain that I don’t stray too far from the shore.

There are days in my life when I feel that I have become untethered from reality.

I begin to feel lost and alone in a raft on the rough waves of the ocean as I become the spectator of my life.

The minutes, hours and days just keep recycling over and over, nothing seems to change as I feel the rush of stress and anxiety take over me.

I want to be able to have more experiences and more places to see in this life before it comes to an end but I am always shoved away from any hope of doing so.

Time is fleeting, if only I had the ability to lengthen time and to grow our finances without always a struggle.

I am lucky that I have my anchors in my life to help keep me steady.ðŸĐ·

Seashells were money before coin, jewelry before gems, art before canvas..

I find truth within these quotes that I have found online so I just want to share the ones I like the best!

“Salty kisses and shellfish wishes.”

“A beach is not only a sweep of sand, but shells of sea creatures, the sea glass, the seaweed, the incongruous objects washed up by the ocean.”

“One  cannot collect all the beautiful shells on the beach.” But I can surely try!

Mother’s day 2025

I had such a beautiful day with my wonderful Mom who is my bestest friendas well! ðŸĐ·

Along with my sweetheart daughter whom I love more than words can say! ðŸĐ·

And my wonderful husband whom I am so happy to spend the rest ofy life with!âĪïļ

Recieved some great gifts but the greatest gift of all is being able to spend time with the people I love the most!

Not all who wander are lost….perhaps.

All was still aside from the waves’ repetitive caress of the shore.

I scampered down the rocky path along the embankment, my feet slipping into the sand as I reached the shore. But it was no gentle shoreline. Instead, it was littered with driftwood and rocks, making a stroll along the sand out of the question. The obstacles were enough to make me wish to turn around to find refuge in the lighthouse once more, but the image of the basalt outcropping and the words replaying in my mind—my only clear recollection—urged me forward. I maneuvered my way along the shore until I reached a stretch where the sand dominated the rocks and invited me to ease my breath and body. I walked to the water’s edge, the waves lapping at the sand hungrily. The sound of their rushing and rolling didn’t cease or pause, not even for the weary of heart and mind. I stared out into the darkness, the giant expanse of water like a deep grave.

Life is a shipwreck, but we must not forget to sing in the lifeboats,” says Voltaire.

The sea is unpredictable whereas it can be calm and serene one moment…then tempestuous the next.

“The lake, a mirror reflecting the sky, whispers tales of tranquility and beauty.”

“Many drops make a bucket, many buckets make a pond, many ponds make a lake, and many lakes make an ocean.”

“Not every lake dreams to be an ocean. Blessed are the ones who are happy with whom they are.” Mehmet Murat

“A lake is a landscape’s most beautiful and expressive feature. It is Earth’s eye; looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature.” Henry David

I love these quotes because my favorite place to be is near water whether it be a lake or an ocean. The sounds of the water washing onto the shore, the music of the seagulls and the crisp air breathes happiness into my soul.

When I am somewhere near the water I just have to make my way there. I feel the need for the refreshing air, the happy sounds and the caressing water over my toes.

I also enjoy going to the closest lighthouses to my locale which is still pretty far away unfortunately.

I love the history behind these light towers and give credit to the hard working men and women that tended them- especially the ones far out in dangerous locations! They helped save so many from horrible shipwrecks!â›īïļ

Northpoint – Milwaukee

I would have loved to have been a lightkeeper!

I find lighthouses captivating and I enjoy visiting as many as I can! To walk up all those spiraling stairs and making it to the top feels like an accomplishment!

Take the time to wander your world even if it isn’t so far to go! ðŸšķ‍♀ïļ

What is your career plan?

I honestly don’t have one, I feel like I am in a rut. A dead end as they say.

I have regrets that I didn’t move to the state that offered working with dolphins.

I have a great life, don’t get me wrong, but I feel that it might have been better if I had chosen that road.
