Old Presque Isle Lighthouse (Michigan) is reportedly haunted by two spirits. A keeper kept his wife locked in the tower until she went insane. On windy nights her screams can be heard above the howling wind. The other spirit is that of a caretaker. The light was disconnected many years ago, but continues to shine on occasion. The U.S. Coast Guard has investigated and found the wires had indeed been cut and that the lighting apparatus has been removed. Yet the light is still seen every night. The light is listed as “an unknown light” by the Coast Guard. Visitors have reported feeling a hand on their shoulder and seeing a tall man with a beard and glasses standing at the top of the stairs. This is a good description of former caretaker, George Parris. According to his wife, he loved the old lighthouse so much that she believes he is still here watching over it.
